2-year-old found wandering on road in Rolling Meadows; aunt charged

A Rolling Meadows woman has been charged with endangering the life of a child after motorists rescued a boy just under the age of 2 who had wandered onto Central Road.

Police said two motorists stopped and took the boy off the roadway in the 2500 block of Central Road just before 5 p.m. Monday.

After talking with witnesses, officers responding to the call located Ana Rosa Cazares, 25, of the 2600 block of Fulle Street, in a nearby yard. Authorities said she told them she's the boy's aunt and was responsible for watching him.

The boy was turned over to his mother when she arrived at the scene. Cazares was released on bond and will appear in court Aug. 19.

The Department of Children and Family Services will investigate.
