2 officers involved in fatal shooting identified

ROCKFORD -- Rockford Police Chief Chet Epperson has identified the two officers involved in Monday night's fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man at a day care center connected to a downtown church.

Epperson said Wednesday that a thorough review will be made of Mark Anthony Barmore's shooting by Officers Oda Poole and Stan North.

Deputy Chief Greg Lindmark said both officers have been placed on administrative leave.

Both officers involved in the shooting have used deadly force in the past. Grand juries found the use of force justified in all incidents.

In April 2007, Poole shot and killed a 66-year-old man after the man pointed what appeared to be a gun at Poole in the parking lot of a drugstore. The object was actually a hammer in a sock.
