Kane Co. OKs Stonefield subdivision
An 81-home development on 226 acres near Campton Township was given the green light from a Kane County Board committee Tuesday.
The Stonefield subdivision would be built at the northeast corner of Empire and Swanberg roads, according to the concept plan submitted by St. Charles developer Land Vision Inc. It would feature single-family homes on large lots.
A year ago, the village of Lily Lake objected to the development, saying the homes would contribute to urban sprawl by diminishing the natural buffer between Lily Lake and Campton Hills. But last month, the Lily Lake village board -- led by a new village president -- revisited the proposal and voted to support it.
The Campton Township board also backs the plan.
Barb Wojnicki, the Kane County Board member who represents the area, was the lone dissenting vote when the board's development committee considered the preliminary plan Tuesday.
Wojnicki said she voted against Stonefield because it doesn't comply with the county's 2030 land-use plan.
"I think we should follow our 2030 plan," the Campton Hills Republican said.
The area is now farmland.
