Chicago Fire at Kansas City Wizards

Scouting the Fire: Brian McBride, Gonzalo Segares, Tim Ward and Daniel Woolard have been ruled out for this game with injuries. Wilman Conde and John Thorrington are questionable, but coach Denis Hamlett usually prefers to be cautious. The second-place Fire (8-4-8, 32 points) has fallen 4 points behind Columbus with a game in hand.

Scouting the Kansas City Wizards: This will be the first game for interim coach Peter Vermes, kicked to the sideline from the front office to replace Curt Onalfo. He'll be without two key players in Davy Arnaud and Claudio Lopez, who will serve yellow-card suspensions. They have combined for half of the 20 goals the Wizards (5-7-6, 21 points) have scored this season.

Next game: vs. Los Angeles Galaxy, Wednesday.
