Boy Scout breakfast still a go in Huntley
Boy Scout Troop 167's breakfast is still on for Sunday, even though the signs disappeared for a short time and then reappeared.
The mystery remains, but you still can enjoy an early Mother's Day breakfast this Sunday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Huntley American Legion, 11712 Coral St.
The menu includes pancakes, sausage, juice, milk or coffee. Tickets -- $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and $3 for children ages 3 to 10 -- are available at the door.
Proceeds help pay for the troop's camping trips and projects.

• Marlowe Middle School's "Celebration Night 2008" will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday. This year's theme, "It's A Small World," is featured in art and cultural displays, live entertainment, ethnic foods and activities. Among the highlights are Irish steppers and folklore dancers, laser tag, an obstacle course, and the "Great (Climbing) Wall of China," as well as a cake walk, pie-throw and silent auction. Pizza, tacos, Bavarian pretzels, egg rolls, Italian ice and churros will be sold. Admission is free, tickets for food and activities are available at the door.
• On May 15, Heineman Middle School's seventh- and eighth-grade band students will play a free concert that includes a new composition -- "Whispering Pines" -- written exclusively for them by Dr. Michael Forbes, an internationally known soloist and composer. The public is invited to attend the 7 p.m. concert, and area musicians who play the tuba, trombone, baritone or euphonium may bring their own instrument and play along. Jaycees' poker run:ŒThe Huntley Jaycees will sponsor a five-card poker run May 10, with registration from 6:30 -- 7:30 p.m. at Del Toro's on Route 47. Participants will collect cards at Bowl-Hi Lanes, Sammy's Restaurant and Offie's Tap, then head to the Parkside Pub for their final card and prize awards at 10 p.m. The cost is $10 per person or $15 per couple; there will also be a prize raffle and a 50/50 drawing. Friends of the Library to meet:ŒThe Friends of the Huntley Area Public Library will hold a general meeting from 11 a.m. to noon May 16 at the old village hall, 11704 Coral Street in downtown Huntley. Members will discuss plans for their summer book sales at the old village hall, and the second annual Friends Golf Outing set for July 9 at the new Pinecrest Golf and Country Club.
