Arlington Heights Crime Stoppers

Over the July Fourth weekend four unlocked vehicles were entered and items taken in the area of Harvard Avenue and Oakton Street. Losses include an IPOD and charger, a 35 mm camera and loose change. During the time frame of these vehicle burglaries two bicycles were also taken from one of the victim's yards.

• A glass block window was broken and another damaged 8 p.m. July 3-noon July 5 at an appliance store on the 1000 block of West Northwest Highway; no one got inside.

• A store window was broken on the first block of North Hickory Avenue, 8 p.m. July 2-8 a.m. July 3; damage was estimated at $200.

• A window on a car on the 200 block of West Northwest Highway was broken, 7:30 p.m. July 3-8 a.m. July 4.

• The convertible top of a car was ripped, while parked in the public garage in the first block of South Vail Avenue, 7 a.m. June 30-7:10 a.m. July 1; damage is estimated at $3,200.

• A $365 20-speed mountain bicycle was taken from a carport on the 800 block of South McKinley Avenue overnight July 3-4.

• A push mower, leaf blower and weed trimmer were taken from an unlocked shed overnight July 2-3 on the 900 block of North Carlyle Lane.; loss was valued at $490.

• A car in a hotel lot on the 3400 block of West Euclid Avenue was broken into 4-5 p.m. July 5 and a computer and iPod Touch taken.

• A portable toilet at Centennial Park, East Burr Oak near North Windsor Drive, was set on fire around 12:20 a.m. July 5. A group of people who had been shooting fireworks were seen leaving the park at about the time the fire started.

Rolling Meadows

• A car parked on the 5600 block of Apollo Drive was broken into June 18 and a GPS unit and radar detector were stolen; estimated loss is $300.

• A car parked on the 600 block of Hicks Road June 19 was broken into and a $600 GPS unit taken from the dash board.

• Tools were stolen from a garage on the 3300 block of Owl Drive June 15 or 16.

• A juvenile was seen stealing a video game June 11 from a store on the 1400 block of Golf Road.

• A condominium on the 5200 block of Carriageway was broken into recently and a flat panel TV and laptop computer stolen. The unit was empty due to a recent fire in the building.

• Five vehicles on the 3900 block of Winnetka were broken into between 6:50 and 8 p.m. June 13; things were stolen from inside. One One victim found some personal items in a nearby Dumpster.

• Tania Navarrete, of the 200 block of Mimosa Lane, Elk Grove Village, was charged with retail theft June 14 from a store on the 1400 block of Golf Road. Her court date is July 16.
