We dream of the day cameras come down
Although I'm sure photo enforcement is a cash cow, it's not proven that violations like turning right too soon on a red light increase the number of traffic accidents. Moreover, these tickets-by-mail increase the public's hostility to police.
Finally, a camera on all four corners of designated intersections - conveniently high off the ground to keep a person from climbing up and driving an ice pick through the lens - gives citizens a sense of living in a police state where Big Brother is watching their every move.
Believe me, in a riot when civilization has collapsed and the world is about to end, these cameras will be the first to come down. I fantasize being among those wielding the ax.
