No bail for blogger accused of judge threats
NEWARK, N.J. -- A judge has denied bail a second time for a New Jersey blogger charged with threatening three federal judges in Chicago is trying to get released on bail.
Harold "Hal" Turner appeared in federal court in Newark Wednesday.
U.S. Magistrate Michael Shipp's decision echoed his denial of bail for Turner last week.
Turner was arrested on June 24 and charged with threatening to assault or murder the three judges who refused to overturn handgun bans.
Prosecutors say Turner, who also hosts an Internet radio show, wrote that the judges "deserve to be killed."
In a separate case, Turner has been charged with encouraging violence against two Connecticut lawmakers over legislation on Catholic parish finances.
