FBI thinks murder suspect might be in Anaheim area

ANAHEIM, Calif. - The FBI is asking for the public's help in finding a Hanover Park man with relatives in the Anaheim area who is suspected in the killing of a former neighbor.

Chicago FBI special agent Robert Grant said Jose Camacho, who is also known as Homero Alvarez Salgado, has been sought since June 2001.

Grant said his last known address was in Hanover Park, but he's believed to have left the state shortly after the death of Flavio Venancio. His body was found floating in a Schaumburg retention pond by workers spraying for mosquitoes. Police in 2001 said he had been stabbed with a knife multiple times and strangled, but an autopsy ruled the father of five young children had drowned.

Grant said Camacho was charged with first-degree murder and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

The FBI did not elaborate about Camacho's Anaheim relatives but believe he may be in or have visited the area.
