U of I starts sending documents to U.S. Attorney
CHAMPAIGN -- The University of Illinois has turned over more than 200 pages of documents to federal prosecutors looking for evidence that ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich tried to influence student admissions.
University spokesman Thomas Hardy says 220 pages of documents have been turned over to the U.S. attorney's office and more are expected. Hardy says he doesn't know how many more.
The U.S. attorney's office subpoenaed documents from the University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University and Northern Illinois University.
SIU said it found two instances of possible influence. NIU has said it's still searching for documents.
The subpoena followed published reports the University of Illinois gave preference to politically connected applicants.
