Learn how to become a Habitat homeowner at Fox Valley event

Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity, an Aurora-based Christian housing ministry, will offer information for prospective Habitat homeowners at 7 p.m. Friday, July 17 and 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at First Baptist Church, 15 Oak Ave., Aurora. The meetings are open to residents of Aurora, Batavia, Montgomery and Oswego.

The Rev. Jeff Barrett, executive director, and Lawrence Taylor, family selection committee chairman, will discuss Habitat's homeownership program.

Interested families should bring a photo identification and proof of income.

The two-day orientation is held annually. Attendance is required to receive an application to partner with Habitat. Applications will not be available after the meetings.

Habitat partners with working, low-income families to build basic, low-cost homes. Future homeowners are required to contribute sweat equity hours of service and to repay a no-interest mortgage.
