Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg Library offer virtual winter events
With Northwest suburban residents trapped at home by the pandemic, snow and cold, the village of Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg Township District Library are offering opportunities to celebrate Black History Month and learn about contemporary music history virtually.
By necessity, Hoffman Estates' Cultural Awareness Commission has replaced its usually live Black History Month event with a video compilation of the 2018 and 2019 celebrations on the village's YouTube channel, youtube.com/watch?v=mVGx9SGpnHo.
The video includes music, dance and other performances from those two events.
The Schaumburg Township District Library will host "Fleetwood Mac: The Chain ... Broken," via Zoom from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 2.
Participants must register for the program on the library's website, schaumburglibrary.org, to receive the Zoom link.
Interviews and performance videos will be used to chronicle the history of the iconic band through the failed romantic relationships within the group that inspired much of its music, with a particular focus on the bestselling 1977 album "Rumours."
