Man charged with sexual assault of woman in Highland Park
A 20-year-old man was arrested today and charged with two felonies in the alleged sexual assault and robbery of a woman who was walking home from the train along the Green Bay Trail bike path in Highland Park, police said.
Police say Eduardo Franco, 20, of 500 Ravinia Road in Highland Park, attacked and robbed a 32-year-old Highland Park woman in the early morning hours of July 15 as she was walking from the train station after arriving from Chicago.
Franco was arrested at about 3 a.m. today at his Highland Park home and charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony, and one count of robbery, a Class 2 felony.
During their investigation of the attack, police developed information that led them to the alleged suspect, authorities said.
Franco was given a $1 million bond in court this morning and is being held at the Lake County jail in Waukegan. He is scheduled to appear in court at 10 a.m. Aug. 10, police said.
