The Elgin Symphony Orchestra invites fans to bring their cameras and participate in the Symphony's 2009 FoxFire Fest Photo Contest during the Orchestra performance of "0 to 60: Music from the ESO's 1st and 60th Seasons" on Sunday, Aug. 2, in downtown Elgin's Festival Park.
Pictures will be judged for artistic quality within several categories. The winner of each category will receive a pair of tickets to a Elgin Symphony Orchestra concert of their choice. The categories are: Family & Friends, ESO & The Music, and Festival Park & Elgin.
To enter, contestants must upload photos with user-friendly Flickr (flickr.com) to the ESO's 2009 FoxFire Fest Photo Contest Flickr group and tag them with "esofoxfire09." Individuals not familiar with Flickr can take a quick tour of the site to learn how to use it by visiting www.flickr.com/tour.
The contest is open to all participants age 18 and older. Photo submissions must be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. Aug. 16. Winners will be announced Aug. 24. Photos must be from the 2009 FoxFire Fest in Elgin. For more information, visit www.ElginSymphony.org.
FoxFire Fest is a two-day summer arts and culture festival offering entertainment, a juried art show, street theater and music, children's activities, a variety of food vendors, and evening main stage shows in downtown Elgin's Festival Park, 136 S. Grove St., Elgin.
Festival hours are noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2. General admission is $5 before 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and $10 after 5 p.m. on Saturday. VIP seating for the Elgin Symphony's "0 to 60 - Music of the 1st and 60th Seasons" can be purchased for $15 through the Hemmens box office at (847) 931-5900.
