Channel 7 to air profile of 'Potter' author J.K. Rowling
Potter author
ABC takes advantage of the mania surrounding the newest Harry Potter movie with "J.K. Rowling: A Year in the Life," a profile of the author who created the Potter series, airing at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 16, on WLS Channel 7. It follows her over the year in which she was writing the final chapter in the Potter saga.
Presenting the Teddys
HBO's determinedly sexist showbiz satire "Entourage" returns for its sixth season at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 12, but the real fun hits later in the week when the premium-cable channel features two Teddys. "Teddy: In His Own Words" looks at the life and career of Sen. Edward Kennedy at 8 p.m. Monday, July 13. Better yet is "Ted Williams," a documentary profile of the great hitter known as "Teddy Ballgame," timed to debut the day after the All-Star Game at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15.
Art for reality's sake
Bravo comes looking for competitors in an as-yet-untitled reality series about contemporary artists with a casting call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at the School of the Art Institute's Sullivan Galleries, 33 S. State St., Chicago. Sarah Jessica Parker is one of the producers behind the series, so it may yet turn out to be worthwhile - independent of the quality of the art and artists. See bravotv.com/casting or saic.edu for details about the audition.
'Break-Up' song
"The Break-Up" has the look of a run-of-the-mill romantic comedy, to the point where not even a topless Jennifer Aniston is enough to recommend it over the presence of the ever-irritating Vince Vaughn. But give it credit: It avoids sentimentality, and it's true to its characters right to the bitter end. It's at 8 p.m. today, July 10, on USA.
