Basketball coach convicted of sexual abuse
A Cook County judge has found a former boys basketball coach at Walter Payton College Prep High School guilty of sexually abusing two female students.
Before finding 46-year-old George Turner guilty Tuesday on charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, Circuit Court Judge James Linn noted that Turner was a highly respected coach at the prestigious public school when he seduced one 15-year-old and attempted to seduce another teenage girl.
Turner was acquitted on more serious charges of aggravated criminal sexual assault.
During the trial, the two victims said Turner would engage them in sexually explicit conversations and grope them at school. One said Turner initiated a three-month affair.
However, Turner said while he may have "inappropriate conversations" with the girls, he never touched either of them.
