Willowbrook High bands battle for charity

After duking it out with their guitars for a chance to win $400 worth of studio time for their bands, six student bands at Willowbrook High School also raised more than $500 for charity.

The Willowbrook Key Club hosted the fifth annual battle this month at the school to raise money from admission proceeds for the American Cancer Society and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

In front of about 200 classmates, the student bands went head to head to win a chance to record a song in a professional studio, Coerce Recording Services in Villa Park.

Participating bands were: Commotion on the Jury, Damage Industry, Room 313, Senioritis, This Just for Dallas and Up to Code.

Commotion on the Jury took the prize, thanks to audience applause and nods by guest judges (and Willowbrook alumni) Kevin Mucha, owner of Coerce, and Chris Fry, a producer for Coerce.
