Bonnie Raitt, Ta Mahal coming to Ravinia

Le Bon Taj Roulet!

In a depressed musical world of uneasy concert alliances, here's a pairing that makes sense. Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal are out on the road together in what they're calling the "Bon Taj Roulet" tour, mixing their unique, yet undeniably complementary approaches to the blues.

Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal play at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday at Ravinia, 418 Sheridan Road, Highland Park. Seats are $80, lawn tickets $27 ($5 more the day of the show); call (847) 266-5100 or visit ravinia.org.

Back to the garden

The Morton Arboretum nurtures a couple of local rock shoots today, with a concert by Chicago's own Plain White T's, best known for "Hey There Delilah," with the Lovehammers and reality-TV breakout star Marty Casey opening.

The Plain White T's and the Lovehammers play at 7 p.m. today at the Morton Arboretum, at I-88 and Route 53 in Lisle. Tickets are $28-$30, available at (630) 725-2066 or mortonarb.org, or avoid a $5 processing fee at the Arboretum Visitor Center.

The living Elvis

Elvis Costello is back on the road, and touring with a rocking string band behind his latest album, "Secret, Profane & Sugarcane," his biggest popular success since his first vogue. Should be perfect for the country-idyll setting back at Ravinia.

Elvis Costello and the Sugarcanes play at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ravinia, 418 Sheridan Road, Highland Park. Seats are $55, lawn tickets $22 ($5 more the day of the show); call (847) 266-5100 or visit ravinia.org.
