• Lonnie F. Malone, 50, of the 100 block of Del Rio Road, Carpentersville, was arrested and charged with attempted obstruction of a peace officer at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday after an incident at Wal-Mart, 1001 N. Randall Road, in which she and three other people entered the store with no items but somehow returned clothing items for $110 of store credit, a police report said. Malone is accused of spending about $40 of the store credit and not immediately telling police officers her actual identity, the report said.

• A 29-year-old Hanover Park man lost $4,500 after he was scammed at the Grand Victoria Casino Tuesday. The man gave money to another man who promised to sell him 11 televisions, a police report said. The man told the victim he gets comp money from the casino and cashes it in for televisions, which he later sells. The victim gave the man money at 5 p.m. and the man said he would be right back with the televisions but never returned, reports said.

• About $2,296 worth of copper pipes, fittings and valves were stolen between 4 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Sunday from a locked sprinkler room at a strip mall under construction in the 1300 block of Chicago Street, reports said.
