Human resource professionals to gather at conference in DeKalb

The Illinois State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management will hold its 10th annual conference Thursday and Friday, July 23 and 24, in DeKalb.

Themed "HR Building Bridges to Success," the meeting of human resource professionals and small business owners will feature three key note speakers and five separate tracks of educational sessions on strategic human resources, legal and employee relations, total rewards, talent management and human resources tools.

Steve Lundin, author and lecturer, will give a presentation on "CATS: The Nine Lives of Innovation A Personal Guide to Everyday Innovation."

BusinessWeek columnist, NPR commentator and former human resources executive Liz Ryan will talk about "Human Resources and the Minister of Culture."

Rich Horwath, founder of the Strategic Thinking Institute, will present "Deep Dive: Mastering the Three Disciplines of Strategic Thinking."

Each year, human resources professionals seek out continuing education opportunities to keep current with HR trends and legal compliance as well as to maintain one of three levels of professional certification. The annual conference can help professionals earn up to 10 recertification credits through a broad curriculum during the two-day conference.
