Green Party candidate gets into governor's race

The Green Party's Rich Whitney is running for Illinois governor again.

A Carbondale lawyer, Whitney ran unsuccessfully in 2006.

But Whitney got about 10 percent of the vote in that election, more than enough to establish the party and make it easier for the Greens to gain ballot access and be eligible for primaries.

Whitney is looking to make even bigger gains in 2010.

He announced his repeat bid for governor Wednesday saying that neither Democrats nor Republicans can fix what's wrong with Illinois government.
