Response to letter on intelligent design

I would like to respond to the letter by Greg Yarnick in the Sept. 14 Daily Herald suggesting that intelligent design is not science.

My point is that non-intelligent design is not science either. Where is the scientific evidence that demonstrates non-intelligence can produce intelligence? Where is the scientific evidence that dead matter can produce life -- a living cell, for example, with all of its complexities? Where is the scientific evidence that a machine world can produce a creature that can create a free will?

Let's face it, the materialist lives by faith in some mindless cosmic power. Is that being scientific?
