C.S. Silk in for Arlington Oaks
C.S. Silk returns to the site of her biggest victory when she heads to post as the likely choice in a field of seven sophomore fillies today for the 30th running of the Grade III $150,000 Arlington Oaks.
The winner of the Grade III Arlington-Washington Lassie in September, C.S. Silk has won three of nine career starts for earnings of $263,907.
C.S. Silk will be reunited with jockey Robby Albarado, who was aboard for her Lassie score and was her regular rider for most of her 2-year-old campaign.
Perfect for You invades from Kentucky after posting a third-place finish in the Grade III Dogwood Stakes at Churchill Downs on May 30. Miguel Mena gets the riding assignment today.
Peach Brew returns to her Arlington base after running third in the Grade III Iowa Oaks at Prairie Meadows last month. Regular rider Quincy Hamilton gets a return call today.
Completing the field for the Arlington Oaks (with jockey) are: Always in My Heart (Jesse Campbell), Hot Cha Cha (Fernando Jara), Excelente (E.T. Baird) and Sweet and Flawless (Junior Alvarado).
Baird milestone: Longtime Chicago-based jockey E.T. Baird notched his 2,000th career victory when he guided Bond Street to victory in the second race Friday at Arlington Park.
"Great milestone," said the 42-year-old native of Arlington Heights. "This is a great place to do it. I grew up here and I wouldn't want to have gotten it anywhere else."
Baird entered Friday's card as the meet's leading jockey with an 8-win advantage over his closest rival.
