Women leading the way, need support
As usual, women are leading the movement for peace. As usual, the main movement for continuing the occupation of Iraq and eventually the strike on Iran are lead by rich, white men who have never served in the armed forces of our country.
As usual, the main opposition against women deciding their own fate over an unwanted pregnancy comes from men. Men who have never been pregnant in their lives. Many of these men are fundamentalist Christians. Many are very rich. Most of them seem to be white.
If you don't have a young one serving in the occupation of Iraq, shut up about supporting Bush's occupation. Until you are pregnant and maybe all alone, how can you know what the "right to life" really means?
The women I knew in my life were strong. They came through the man-dominant system of yesteryear, dealt with it and did very well.
The women in my life would have protested the occupation of Iraq and the eventual strike on Iran. And then they would have defended the right to control their own bodies.
What's happening now tells me that the women now are doing just that. And they need our support.
