Kirk wrong on energy bill

In response to Congressman Mark Kirk's vote on the "Cap and Tax" bill and the July 4 well-reported story, I can say this: Like virtually all of Congress, he didn't read the bill.

If he did, he would have known how punitive this bill is, and more importantly how it helps our enemies more than it helps us. It completely guts our current energy supply system without supporting the best alternative - nuclear.

The Daily Herald reported Kirk wants to make us more energy dependent from the Middle East. The U.S. gets 90 percent of its oil from the Americas (North, Central and South) and we could get more if allowed to drill off shore, a measure that Kirk voted for but certainly didn't lead the charge for.

I supported Kirk not because he's my congressman (thankfully Peter Roskam is), but because he is congressman for three of my children and their families. That will change, as will their support.

I recommend Congressman Kirk read "Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1500 Years." It is only 260 pages versus the 1,300 pages of dribble in the House bill. Unlike the environmental crowd, it actually provides data and millions of years of forensic evidence to support reality. There is discussion that Congressman Kirk may seek other office in Illinois. I'll make this prediction now. Look for him to change his stripes in the next election, and run as a Democrat.
