Garden Club of Iverness installs new officers

On a beautiful May morning, in the sunny main reception room at the Inverness Golf Club, the Garden Club of Inverness members met to celebrate the end of a very successful year. The luncheon tables were decorated with colorful spring bouquets picked from the gardens of club members. Laughter and conversation filled the air.

After a brief business meeting, which outlined preparations for the 2009-2010 year and awarded scholarships, the officers and committee chairmen were introduced and installed.

The holiday luncheon committee also reported that plans are well underway for the club's annual luncheon on Thursday, Dec. 3. The money raised through raffle sales at this event will help fund the club's scholarship awards and other community projects.

Then came a sumptuous lunch, more laughter, more conversation, and an incredible chocolate dessert. As friends said goodbye, they knew that they would still see their fellow gardeners at several other summer events including a trip to Rick Bayless's Frontera Grill for lunch and

a tour of his personal garden; a return to Diane Hunter's Barrington Japanese garden for instruction on gardening and meditation; and at the annual Garden Club of Inverness garden walk, where members will open their personal gardens to the club membership.
