Momentum fleeting for Cubs

Back when Dusty Baker was manager of the Cubs, he used to talk about the "inning of decision."

The Cubs looked like they had one of those working in their favor Sunday. Actually, any chance the Cubs had to rally from a 3-0 deficit came in the bottom of the fifth and evaporated in the top of the sixth.

In the fifth, Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano put the first two Sox batters on base, but he bore down and retired the next three, stranding runners on second and third.

Momentum Cubs, or so it appeared.

Alfonso Soriano led off the top of the sixth with a double to left field and moved to third on Ryan Theriot's groundout to the right side. Milton Bradley struck out, but Derrek Lee and Jake Fox walked to load the bases.

Geovany Soto then grounded the ball into the hole between short and third. Shortstop Alexei Ramirez gloved the ball and flipped it to third baseman Gordon Beckham for a nifty 6-5 forceout.

The Sox scored 2 runs in the bottom of the sixth, and the Cubs were never heard from again.
