Vargas could make dent in unemployment here

I recently read on the Daily Herald Web site that Elgin resident Mark Vargas was running for Congress in the 14th District. I read that while serving on an economic development team in Iraq, Vargas helped lower the Iraqi unemployment rate from 50 percent down to just 18 percent.

I have lived in this area for the past five years and witnessed a concerning vacuum of leadership. For example, under Congressman Bill Foster's watch the Illinois unemployment rate has risen from 6.5 percent to 10.4 percent.

It appears the Fox Valley needs the experience that Vargas gained while creating jobs in Iraq. This congressional candidate has fresh ideas that represent a new generation of leadership.
