Prosecutors: Maple Park man threatened cop

A Maple Park man has been charged with threatening to "shoot and dismember" a local police officer, the Kane County state's attorney's office said Wednesday.

Jose E. Blanco, 44, of the 200 block of Kane Street, was charged Tuesday with one count of threatening a public official, a Class 2 felony.

Authorities said Blanco initially made contact with police regarding a May 8 incident on the 100 block of Main Street in which Blanco was charged with exposing himself to a minor, battery and five counts of delivery of alcohol to a minor, all misdemeanors. He later made the threats against the police officer, officials said.

Blanco was being held in the county jail Wednesday with bond set at $466,000, according to the Kane County sheriff's Web site. He is due in court Tuesday on the misdemeanor case and June 22 on the felony case.

Maple Park police did not respond to requests for information.
