St. Charles street closure

Illinois Street between Second (Route 31) and Third streets in St. Charles will be closed to through traffic June 15 to 19 to allow for utility repairs that are required in preparation for street resurfacing. Local traffic may enter the area only from Third Street. Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. during that time, and times might vary slightly. Farm camp for kids

Children can learn and play this summer at Heritage Prairie Farm's Summer Farm Camp in LaFox. There are cooking, gardening, farming and crafts classes. Music fills the air every Wednesday in June as Batavia Creamery and A+DJ host Weekend Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. Hear your requests while enjoying your ice cream treats at the shop on the northwest corner of the Donovan Bridge on Wilson Street.

Register for fall classes

Open registration for summer and fall credit classes at Elgin Community College will continue until classes start, space permitting. Summer classes begin the weeks of June 15 and 29 and July 13. Fall 16-week classes begin the week of Aug. 24; 12-week classes begin the week of Sept. 21; and eight-week classes begin the week of Oct. 19. Students with an ECC identification number can register online at elgin.edu/accessecc. Otherwise, registration can be completed in person at the registration center in Room 165 of the Student Resource Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. The registration center is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The college is closed Fridays through Aug. 7. Students must provide proof of having met course prerequisites, if documentation is not already on file with the ECC records office. Students with outstanding financial obligations to the college may not register until all bills are settled. For details, visit elgin.edu/register.
