Misrepresenting child health plan
Rep. Peter Roskam voted against expansion of the State's Children's Health Insurance Program, and when I asked his office why, I was told there would be an expansion in coverage to Illegal aliens. Roskam cannot support that type of thing.
I looked at the bill, H.R. 976, and found resources that indicate that there is no allowance for coverage of illegal aliens in the bill. An example from the bill itself: "SEC. 203. (IV) VERIFICATION OF CITIZENSHIP OR NATIONALITY STATUS- The State shall satisfy the requirements of section 1902(a)(46)(B) or 2105(c)(10), as applicable for verifications of citizenship or nationality status." Additionally, the National Conference of State Legislatures found that there is no provision for aid to illegal aliens except for emergency coverage (http://www.ncsl.org/print/health/CRSSbyS0807.pdf) page CRS-25.
Why is Peter Roskam misrepresenting the contents of this legislation? Why is Roskam punishing the weakest among us? Namely poor children. What, if anything, am I missing here?
