Feds: 7 pistols stolen from Miss. police department found in Chicago

JACKSON, Miss. -- Federal prosecutors say seven of the 11 pistols stolen from a Mississippi police department have been found in Chicago.

Prison inmates in a community work program allegedly conspired with others to steal 11 pistols and five machine guns from the Greenwood Police Department in 2005 and 2006.

Eight people were indicted. All but one has pleaded guilty. His trial starts Monday.

Authorities hadn't previously said how many of the guns were recovered.

The information was revealed Wednesday in a court filing in inmate Andre Redmond's case.

Prosecutors allege Redmond arranged to transfer the pistols to Chicago.

It isn't clear from court records what happened to the machine guns. Redmond isn't charged with their disappearance.
