Services set for cop killed in ATV wreck
QUINCY -- Services are scheduled for an Adams County sheriff's investigator killed in a weekend accident involving an all-terrain vehicle.
Thirty-year-old Matt McElfresh died Sunday after the accident on private property just east of Quincy. Authorities say the ATV apparently went off a road near a sharp corner and struck a tree.
McElfresh recently completed several years with the West Central Illinois Task Force, on which he investigated drug cases. He worked with the sheriff's department for about nine years.
Services will be Thursday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Quincy.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church, then again there from 9 a.m. Thursday until the services at 10 a.m.
