Elgin

• A fired employee returned to his former place of business early Friday morning and assaulted two employees, holding a tile scraper to their necks and threatening to, "have his friends come after them," police said. Reports said the incident occurred at 1:24 a.m. in the 0-100 block of Clock Tower Plaza. He ran from the business in an unknown direction - no arrests have been made.

• A pair of gas pump displays and credit card readers - valued at $2,000, were reported stolen Thursday from the now-closed Clark gas station in the 900 block of Dundee Avenue, reports said.

Carpentersville

• Erin Carriveau, 24, of the 1700 block of South Street in Crystal Lake, was charged with felony obstruction of justice and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia Thursday, after she tried to hide a spoon from police that she thought had heroin residue on it, police said. Carriveau was arrested at Route 62 and Helm Road Thursday afternoon on an outstanding warrant and hid the spoon from police while she was seated in the squad car, documents said - she told police that she was holding the spoon for a friend and didn't want to be charged on her behalf. Her bond was set at $1,000 and she faces up to three years in prison on the charge.

South Elgin

• Omero Zavala, 29, of the 700 block of Morgan Street in Elgin, was charged with felony DUI Thursday after police said he on Thursday afternoon rear-ended a car, then left the scene of the crash heading the wrong way on a one-way street. Reports said the crash occurred at State and Water streets, that Zavala failed all field sobriety tests and that he admitted to drinking at least seven beers. He also was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a revoked license, failure to reduce speed to avoid and accident, improper lane usage, driving without insurance and illegal transportation of alcohol. His bond was set at 10 percent of $20,000 and he is due in court July 10 at the Kane County Judicial Center. He could spend up to three years in prison on the felony charge.
