Stroger's service cuts are same as tax hike
After all the talk about the one percent Cook County sales tax hike that went into effect last year to offset rising operational costs, I wonder how many suburban residents are aware of the closing, by Todd Stroger, of all five suburban offices of the county assessor? Now, when it becomes necessary for me to conduct any major business with the assessor's office, I must travel to the Clark Street location in Chicago.
No doubt, this must be not only a plus for disabled senior citizens like myself, but for all suburban residents of Cook County.
I guess Todd Stroger's idea of a "good tax hike" is to cut services paid for by those very same taxes. Thanks, President Stroger.
