Duffy's assistant is the real deal
Dan Duffy, an independent businessman, seeks to replace state Sen. Bill Peterson of District 26, who has chosen to retire. Sen. Peterson has represented his district well.
On the issues of the governor's Gross Receipt Tax and Payroll Tax Plans, I agree with Duffy's stand. My research indicates to me that these tax programs will do more harm than good to the overall business and earnings environments in Illinois. Dan Duffy understands.
At the same time, I agree with Governor Blagojevich's desire to provide health care for every Illinoisan - other funding methods can be found to realize this important goal.
As we examine election candidates and their qualifications, one very important aspect is often overlooked - the candidates' support staffs. Effective representation consists not only of solid legislation, but also resolution of constituent problems. Candidate Duffy has selected Sen. Peterson's executive assistant Jan Zobus.
Top choice.
Jan Zobus brings experience, knowledge, grace, tenacity and pragmatism to the table and is one of the most effective assistants with whom I have had the pleasure to work. Her familiarity with issues most important to constituents in District 26 will be a tremendous asset to Dan Duffy - and constituents - should he win the election.
I respect Jan, her abilities, appreciate her continued encouragement throughout the arduous process we undertook under the auspices of Sen. Peterson beginning in 2002, and have every reason to believe that this working combination, Candidate Daniel Duffy and his Executive Assistant Jan Zobus, will result in the constituents of District 26 being the real winners.
