Fitzgerald threatens to sue publisher over book

The top federal prosecutor in Chicago is threatening to sue publisher Harper Collins, saying one of its books about the prosecution of terrorism cases "defamed me and placed me in a false light."

Fitzgerald says in a letter to the publisher he understands a new edition of "Triple Cross" by Peter Lance is coming. He tells Harper Collins if it publishes the book this month and it defames him, he'll sue the New York-based company.

The book focuses on major terrorism cases prosecuted by Fitzgerald when he was an assistant U.S. attorney in New York.

A telephone call to Harper Collins on Monday was referred to a Laura Miller. She did not immediately return a message.
