Enough already; city needs more money

"Prospect Heights to Start Staff Furloughs." I read the headline with a mixture of sadness and anger.

I have lived in this pleasant, tree-filled town for 36 years and have never seen our infrastructure as bad. Our streets look like a moonscape. The posts that hold our street signs are bent and rusted.

Except for our homes, which of course are privately owned and maintained, we resemble a third world country.

The citizens of Prospect Heights have had several opportunities to remedy this problem, but too many listened to the siren's song of the naysayers and rejected the cure. Can you say Home Rule?
