1 killed, 1 wounded in street fight
STERLING -- Whiteside County authorities have issued a first-degree murder warrant for a 23-year-old Sterling man reportedly involved in a fatal beating.
Police say Antonio Jose Reyes Gomez is wanted in the death of 54-year-old Jose Lopez, also of Sterling. Officers say Lopez was killed in a street fight early Saturday morning that left another man severely injured.
Officers have arrested two other Sterling men allegedly involved in the fight, 20-year-old Miguel Tamayo and 19-year-old Luis Carranza. Both are charged with aggravated battery and mob action.
Police who went to the scene say they found Lopez and 41-year-old Rodolfo Luevano of Rock Falls lying bleeding in the street.
Both were taken to CGH Medical Center, where Lopez was pronounced dead.
Investigators say they do not believe the fight was gang or drug-related.
