No debate; equal rights for all citizens

I want to personally thank you for your editorial on civil unions.

Whether we have access to the cultural and economic advantages of marriage should not be up for debate. Whether we can be fired from our jobs, lose our kids or be thrown out of our apartments should not be up for debate. Whether we can serve openly and proudly in the armed forces should not be up for debate.

The time has come for our America to enforce The Bill of Rights' 14th Amendment: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." to be applied to every citizen despite their sexual or gender orientation.
