Nice views of the Solheim Cup action plentiful at Rich Harvest Farms

Looking for the best possible spot to view the Solheim Cup action this week? Bet on 14.

Watching from the 14th hole at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove provides a particularly good vantage point, because from there you can also see holes 12, 13 and 15, according to event spokesman Barry Cronin.

"It's probably one of the better spots out there," Cronin said. "You get a lot of bang for your buck, so to speak."

The Solheim Cup, the most prestigious event in women's professional golf, opened Monday with practice rounds, which conclude Thursday. Tournament play begins Friday.

Cronin said spectators looking to get the most value out of the cost of their tickets ($25 for single-day practice rounds, $50 for match play) should arrive as early as possible and plan to spend a day watching the best female golfers from the U.S. and Europe. Spectators are free to move around on the course throughout the day.

"Some people like to find a good spot and stick to it," he said. "Others like to follow a player or several players around the course. A good time can be had either way."

The course at Rich Harvest Farms offers a variety of amenities: concession stands at holes 2, 4, 8, 15, and 18; beverage concessions at holes 7 and 8; two video walls, one behind the 18th green and the other near holes 12, 13 and 14. Holes 13 through 18 also have bleacher seating for spectators.

High-rolling golf fans can enjoy the event from the luxurious Ping Pavilion near the 17th green. The pavilion offers air conditioning, seating areas for dining, plenty of flat-screen televisions to watch the action and an upgraded food/drink menu. If you haven't yet purchased your Ping Pavilion tickets, though, you're out of luck. Both single-day ($125 per competition round) and weekly tickets ($350) are sold out.

"It's a beautiful course with some fantastic views, so I think every fan who makes it out there will be satisfied," Cronin said.
