Cops: Carpentersville man swiped boy's iPhone
A Carpentersville man has been charged with the strongarmed robbery of a 15-year-old boy, police said Monday.
Antonio D. McSwine, 18, of the 0-99 block of Alameda Drive, robbed the teen of an iPhone valued at $400 on May 8 in the area of Skyline and Lake Marion drives in Dundee Township, according to the Kane County sheriff's department.
Deputies arrested McSwine after an investigation that began with the boy calling 911 after the robbery. Lt. Pat Gengler said no weapon was used, and no one was hurt.
McSwine was being held in the county jail Monday and needs to post $10,000 to be released. He is scheduled to appear before Judge James C. Hallock on July 17.
Court records indicate McSwine was convicted of burglary in July 2008 and sentenced to seven years in prison. The status of his time served was not immediately available Monday.
Robbery is a Class 2 felony punishable by up to seven years in prison, but McSwine could face an extended sentence should he be convicted, depending on his criminal history.
