Woman charged with bringing gun into courthouse

A Beecher woman was being held on $100,000 bond after being arrested for allegedly bringing a loaded handgun into a Cook County courthouse in downtown Chicago.

The Cook County Sheriff's office said Tuesday that 30-year-old Tammy Dobbin, who has no known criminal history, has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

Sheriff's deputies said Dobbin and her boyfriend were entering the Daley Center to attend a hearing on a paternity case when x-rays indicated a metal object inside a book bag she was carrying.

Sheriff's Deputy Jennifer Matthews said the object turned out to be a 9mm handgun, loaded with 10 bullets and equipped with a laser pointer. Authorities said Dobbin admitted the gun belonged to her.
