Lawmakers: Follow kindergarten rules
To the Illinois legislature: As a senior citizen I object to being used as a political pawn in this futile chess game called politics.
I'm tired of the veiled threats, being used as an excuse, and made to feel guilty just because I'm still alive. When I started teaching kindergarten I told myself to educate these kids the best I could because one of them would probably grow up to be my doctor. It happened.
Most important to me was educating my students to be honorable, responsible citizens-contributing their personal gifts to making a better society.
Well, I'm new to Illinois and I am astounded that a batch of apparently competent legislators can't figure out a budget and a few simple laws without corruption and selfishness. It's not that hard-use the kindergarten rules: Be kind Be fair Be honest Do what is best for your neighbor. And if that is beyond your capabilities, then don't waste our time running for office. Make your kindergarten teacher proud of you. I guarantee you'll feel better about yourself, too.
