Journamen Theater Company revive 'Snoopy! The Musical'
• Journeymen Theater Company's revival of the family-friendly show "Snoopy! The Musical," inspired by Charles M. • Larry Yando, who played Scar in the national tour of Julie Taymor's "The Lion King," stars in Chicago Shakespeare Theater's stage adaptation of Disney's animated film, "Aladdin." Yando reunites with Derek Hasenstab, Iago to Yando's Jafar, in the show that features Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice's award-winning tunes "A Whole New World" and "Friend Like Me." • The Neo-Futurists continue their annual staged readings of truly terrible films on Thursday, July 2 with "Cruising," starring Al Pacino as an undercover detective tracking a serial killer who preys on gay men in early 1980s New York City. • National Pastime Theater presents its first adults-only festival, Naked July: Art Stripped Down, from Friday, July 3, through Aug. 2 at 4139 N. Broadway, Chicago. The festival includes a production of Tennessee Williams' "The Day on Which a Man Dies;" a nude adaptation of the fairy tale "Nocturne," which runs at 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Aug. 1; and the "The Girlie-Q Variety Hour," which runs at midnight Fridays and Saturdays through Aug. 1. From July 9 to Aug. 2, the festival includes the burlesque show "Speakeasy To Me," running at 10 p.m. Thursdays and 8 p.m. Sundays, and "The Great American Nudie Spectacular" at 8 p.m. Thursdays and 6 p.m. Sundays. Buffalo Theatre Ensemble artistic directors Connie Canaday Howard and Amelia Barrett star in "A Coupla White Chicks Sitting Around Talking," John Ford Noonan's two-hander about women who connect despite their vast differences. Star power
Former "CSI" star William Petersen returns to Victory Gardens Theatre, his former theatrical stomping grounds, to appear opposite the accomplished Mattie Hawkinson in "Blackbird," David Harrower's two-person drama about the fallout from an illicit affair. Artistic director David Zacek directs.
