Boating restrictions lifted on Chain O' Lakes
The Fox Waterway Agency in Fox Lake has lifted boating restrictions on the Chain O' Lakes and upper Fox River, while also allowing boating to resume on the lower river.
The river between McHenry's Stratton-Bolger Lock and Dam north to the Wisconsin border - including the Chain O' Lakes - is now open, while the lower river between the dam in McHenry and the Algonquin Dam is restricted to no-wake.
The waterway agency also warn boaters to be wary of floating debris and to take caution against swift moving currents.
The lakes and river were restricted one week ago due to heavy rain in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois in mid-June.
