Please save tabs and help Ronald's house

My daughter, Sarah, a special-needs student at Kirk School in Palatine, has been collecting aluminum can tabs for 10 years. The Ronald McDonald House recycles them to cover expenses at the Lincoln Park house near Children's Memorial Hospital. We never used the RMH, but met many parents who did, while Sarah was at CMH.

They were grateful to have this "home." We wanted to contribute to this service because it helps so many families who have a very sick child in the hospital, possibly for weeks or months.  The parents are charged only $5 per night, for any length stay.

RMH provides a safe, comfortable and nearby haven for families whose lives center around their child's surgery or illness.

Think about what this comfort would mean to your family and consider saving Tabs For Sarah. We are very close to our personal goal of 1 million tabs (900,000), and we'd like to meet our goal this summer. While you are recycling that beverage can or any aluminum can, "save" the tab for RMH.  Please bring them (any amount) to 659 Dorset Ave. in Palatine and leave on the front porch.

Remember:  the RMH operating budget is ENTIRELY through donations. A child recovers faster when family and parents are close. Your tab donation helps a young patient return to home life. A worthy cause and so easy.

Thanks to all donors who responded over the years, especially Sue Quinn and her Lutheran Church network, family friends Jamie and Bailey Bilek, Karen Harold of the Palatine Fire Department, and Nancy Robinson, whose "Notables" column in the Palatine Countryside helped so much.

Sarah and her family thank you for your support!
