Naperville man arrested, charged with public indecency
A 53-year-old man has been arrested by Naperville Police and charged for public indecency after he was spotted inappropriately touching himself last Friday, police officials said.
David T. Sumner, of the 1000 block of East Ogden Avenue in Naperville, was arrested on Wednesday, June 3, after police received public indecency complaints from witnesses claiming Sumner was acting inappropriately in or outside stores in an unidentified strip mall on Friday, May 29 and Sunday, May 31, said Sgt. Lisa Burghardt of the Naperville Police Department.
Burghardt said Sumner was acting inappropriately while following two women - ages of 17 and 18 - on Friday evening. She said Sumner was also spotted acting inappropriately on Sunday, but the charges against him stem from the Friday incident only.
She said the incident remains under investigation and additional charges could be filed against Sumner in the future.
She added police officers were staking out the parking lot where Sumner was last seen in hopes of catching him.
He was spotted just after 8 p.m. Wednesday and arrested and taken to Naperville Police Department detention center and charged with two counts of public indecency. He was transferred to Du Page County Court for a bond hearing Thursday, but bond information is not available.
