Musicians announced for Frontier Days

Musicians for the 2009 Frontier Days Festival in Arlington Heights have been announced and crowd-favorite Eddie Money is performing.

The Kentucky Headhunters, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, American English and Blues Traveler round out the bands playing on the Main Stage.

"You've got a whole variety of music styles to appeal to the different tastes in the community," said committee President Donna Jonas. "We just try to get a good overview."

Kentucky Headhunters kicks off the action at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1. Jonas described the Headhunters as being popular with both country and rock fans.

Taking the Frontier Stage at 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday is Eagles tribute band Heartache Tonight.

On Thursday, July 2, Audio Daydream will take the Frontier Stage at 5:15 p.m. The band plays hard rock, hip hop, new wave and alternative rock.

Blues Traveler is Thursday's main act, performing at 8 p.m. They have been performing live for more than 20 years.

Chicago band ARRA is playing on the Frontier Stage at 9:15 p.m. ARRA covers the music of Journey, Boston, Styx, Rush, Van Halen, Creed, REO Speedwagon, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and Foreigner.

On Friday, July 3, festival goers can enjoy female pop band Catfight and National Slide Guitar Champaign Kraig Kenning during dinner. They will perform at 5:15 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively. Catfight will be on the Frontier Stage and Kenning will be on Stage West.

Eddie Money is performing at 8 p.m. Jonas calls him a "singing legend" with a "distinctive voice."

The Lounge Puppets, a tribute to 80s hair bands, will perform on the frontier stage at 9:15 p.m.

At 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, Kevin Purcell and the Night Burners will perform. Solid Aire will perform on stage west at 5:45 p.m.

The unconventional sound of the Cherry Poppin' Daddies can be heard at 8 p.m. They mix punk rock, swing, ska and funk music.

The Afrodisiacs will take the Frontier Stage at 9:15 p.m. The band combines disco, funk and dance music while wearing funky outfits.

American music playing band, Heartsfield, will perform at 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, on the Frontier Stage. Attendees can then travel to the West Stage hear the Harper College Steel Drum Band at 5:30 p.m.

American English will bring the festival to a close at 7:30 p.m. Jonas describes them as the greatest Beatles tribute band of our time.

The festival, which runs from July 1-5, is in Recreation Park, three blocks east of Arlington Heights Road on Miner Street. There is free admission for all performances.
