Doctors answer foot problems through hotline and online Wednesday

Foot doctors will offer a call-in hotline Wednesday to answer questions about foot-care problems.

The Illinois Podiatric Medical Association will give out general advice and offer names of podiatrists near the caller for follow-up care.

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, and podiatrists remind the public that diabetics are more prone to develop foot infections that can lead to amputation.

Call the hotline from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at (888) 869-3338.

Those on Twitter.com, the online social networking Web site, can send a question @IPMA and a podiatrist will respond by Twitter, phone or e-mail.
